Angelica’s Journey: From Timid to Treasured

Updated: Mar 7

Angel's world changed overnight. After her owner passed away, she and her two canine friends were left with nowhere to go—no plan, no provisions. Confused and shy, Angel was surrendered to Lab Rescue, unsure of what the future held.

Though she hadn’t come from an abusive home, Angel lacked confidence and was unfamiliar with something most dogs instinctively know—how to play. At the kennels, she quickly earned the affectionate nickname Angelica, and despite her timid nature, she was deeply loved by the staff.

Recognizing her need for extra care, Lab Rescue was fortunate enough to place her in a boarding facility where she could slowly build trust with people and other dogs. With patience, kindness, and encouragement, Angelica discovered the joy of play—a small but powerful step toward a brighter future.

That future arrived when a wonderful couple expressed interest in adopting her. During their home check, they hesitantly admitted, "Our dog sleeps in our bed… is that okay?" The answer? Absolutely!

The Bergh family was the perfect match. Dedicated to understanding the social and emotional needs of their dogs, they took our advice and brought their Labrador, Marley, along for a meet-and-greet. It was love at first sight.

Today, Angelica is no longer the timid girl she once was. She’s thriving in her forever home, curled up every night on a king-size bed, surrounded by love, with Marley as her best friend.

From uncertainty to unconditional love, Angelica's journey is a testament to the power of patience, compassion, and second chances. ❤️🐾
