Making the Right Choice for Your Labrador

When to Consider Rehoming

Rehoming your Labrador is never an easy decision, but sometimes it’s the best choice for both you and your dog. If you’re facing major life changes such as financial struggles, illness, housing restrictions, or emigration without the means to take your dog with you, rehoming may be necessary to ensure your Labrador’s well-being.

However, some challenges - like behavioural issues, temporary hardships, or training difficulties - can often be resolved with the right support. Before making a final decision, consider working with a professional behaviourist, temporary foster care, or additional training to see if your Labrador can stay in your home.

If you’re unsure, we’re here to help you explore your options and guide you toward the best outcome for your dog.

Finding the Best Home for Your Labrador

The Rehoming Process

We always aim to rehome dogs directly from their existing families to their new ones, limiting the need for kenneling or foster care unless circumstances require it.

STEP 1

Surrender Application

Fill out our Surrender Application Form, providing details about your Labrador’s age, health, and behaviour. Honest information helps us find the best match.

STEP 2

Evaluation & Listing

Our team will review your application. If suitable, we’ll list your dog in our database to connect with potential adopters.

STEP 3

Adopter Screening

We carefully screen all adopters and conduct a home check to ensure a safe environment.

STEP 4

Meet & Greet

If a match is found, we’ll arrange a meet-and-greet with the potential adopter. If they have other pets, an introduction is encouraged.

STEP 5

Adoption Finalisation

Once approved, the adopter signs an adoption agreement, and we facilitate a smooth transition for your Labrador.

STEP 6

Post-Adoption Support

We offer settling-in advice, training resources, and follow-ups to ensure a successful transition for both dog and adopter.
