Max is an energetic, strong-willed boy with a playful spirit and plenty of personality.
He is an active dog who enjoys getting involved in whatever is happening around him, but his enthusiasm can sometimes become overwhelming. He has basic training and is house-trained, but he will need continued guidance, structure and patient handling to help him make good choices.
Personality & Quirks:
Max is described as very active and can be strong, particularly during feeding, walking and play. He can be mouthy, with snapping or biting at hands, clothes or ankles while running, and he may knock people over or chase them when moving quickly. He also struggles to self-soothe and can shift rapidly into a destructive, high-energy cycle.
Compatibility:
Max has not been socialised with other dogs and is not considered good with children. His rough play has caused concerns around children, and he can be difficult to manage because of his strength and tendency to override commands. He has also attacked a neighbour's cat, so a home without cats is essential. These boundaries will help him succeed.
Daily Life & Favourite Things:
Max enjoys being active and has had basic training, although he does not currently walk well on lead and is not particularly interested in car rides. He sleeps outdoors and is used to spending time outside. He will benefit from consistent routines, appropriate exercise, positive reinforcement and calm, structured interaction that helps him channel his energy constructively.
Ideal Home:
Max needs an experienced home that understands energetic dogs and is prepared to continue working on training, impulse control and appropriate behaviour. He would be best suited to a home without children or cats and without other dogs. His adopter will need to be physically capable of managing his strength and committed to providing structure, patience and ongoing guidance.
Max has challenges that will require understanding and commitment, but with the right environment, boundaries and continued training, there is an opportunity for him to develop into a more settled and manageable companion. He deserves a home that can see beyond his current struggles and give him the guidance he needs to thrive.
