A lovable, playful Lab with a giant heart and an even bigger personality.
Personality & charm
Bakkies is a fun-loving, affectionate, and slightly clumsy Lab who thrives on connection with his humans. He’s happiest playing fetch, chewing his toys, or nudging in close for attention. Whether he’s alerting you to visitors or greeting you with a wagging tail at the gate, he’s always eager to be part of the action. This boy knows the household rhythm well—he even reminds his family when it’s mealtime!
Social life & environment
Bakkies has grown up with other dogs and enjoys being part of a familiar pack. He’s good with teenagers and has a soft spot for close companionship. He’s best suited to a home without cats and would need slow introductions around large male dogs, as he tends to assert himself as the alpha. His ideal home would include a secure garden, patient guidance, and lots of love.
Quirks & needs
Born during the pandemic, Bakkies missed out on early training, but his affectionate nature and eagerness to please give him great potential to learn with the right encouragement. He currently lives outdoors, is not leash trained, and may feel unsettled during thunderstorms, so a quiet, reassuring environment will help him thrive. His family is heartbroken to rehome him due to moving into a no-large-dogs retirement home, and would love to see him in a home where he’ll be truly cherished.
